Janet Tonkins has successfully bought, sold, rehabbed and managed over $15 million dollars in single family and multi-unit apartment buildings in Paterson, New Jersey, Baltimore, MD and Atlanta, Ga. She is Known as the “Real Estate Diva”, because she “buys houses like other women buy shoes” Janet buys an average of 2-4 houses per month.
She is an Executive Board Member of the Baltimore Real Estate Investment Association, The Maryland Multifamily Association and serves as coordinator of the SAVVY Women’s Investment Meeting (SWIM). She also serves as Consultant and mentor to several firms and young men and women in the real estate industry. She and her husband Owen are also developers and partners in the Baltimore Eastside Redevelopment along with Forest City Development Company (and several other minority partners) where they are part owners of three $110 million dollar bio-tech labs, and an upcoming 200 unit apartment building. They received a national award for rehabbing 20 for sale row homes on McDonough Street and partnered with Ryan Homes to build 49 Town Homes that were sold in one day. They are currently in the process of building another 39 Town homes in Baltimore, and 2 other Apartment Buildings in Paterson NJ one for Grandparents with Children and one for Market Rate tenants.
Janet has written several articles for the Baltimore REIA Newsletter, has spoken at several women’s organizations and has been asked to participate in a real estate study at Johns Hopkins University. She has spoken on NPR radio and has been featured in the Nationwide Realty Trac Newsletter.
Janet uses her talents, gifts and abilities to share and to minister to Young men and women alike. It is her goal to not only create “generational wealth” for her family but to Change her Community one house and one family at a time and to share and teach others to do the same!

Beginning with his first Voice over IP startup company in 2002 and selling it along with establishing other successful IT companies, Kevin started a new journey by sharing his knowledge and experience with other people to help them to build their future. Mark Owens began his investment career in 2002 in Baltimore, Maryland. At that time he was a Microsoft Certified Trainer teaching upper level computer classes in colleges all over Maryland. Within a few short years he was able to leave the job and focus on growing his rental portfolio. Since then he has acquired over 100 rental units including some mid-size apartment buildings, wholesaled close to 200 deals and done a few retail flips. Mark has figured out a way to run his business around his life- not the other way around. He spends much of his free time coaching, speaking, hiking, scuba diving, flying planes and looking for something else to do!
Michael Green is a successful house flipper and the host of The Flip Factor, but at one point in time this success was just a teenage boy’s dream. At the age of fifteen, prompted by late-night infomercials, Michael bought the book No Money Down by Carlton Sheets, which planted the seed of eventually becoming a house flipper. But the road to success wasn’t always easy. Growing up next to the projects in Baltimore, Michael found himself getting into trouble, and his relationship with his dad was built on breaking the law.
At 17, Michael found himself thrown into a paddy wagon with handcuffs around his wrists. Faced with a four year jail sentence and a cold, uncomfortable prison cell, with terrible food, scratchy blankets and no freedom, Michael had a lot of time to think. He thought about how if his life up to that point were a house, it would be a broken-down, boarded-up house. His negative patterns and limiting beliefs had eaten away at his foundation like hungry termites. Michael could either continue these patterns and let his life crumble around him, or he could step up and fix it. So he got to work on his first flip – himself.
He started out as a flooring installer, and in 2008 he was doing a job for a gentleman flipping houses named Jason Shara. Sensing his curiosity and interest in the industry, he invited Michael to a free meeting for house flippers. At this meeting Michael was introduced to his first mentor. After just a few months of studying under his mentor, he made his first deal flipping a house for $16,000 without a single penny of his money. For the next year he continued doing flips and made a total of $106,459, and in 2009 he was able to leave his full time job and has been flipping houses ever since.
Michael believes that the key to success in the house flipping industry is being open to investing in personal growth and seeing the potential in something that’s a little broken-down and rough around the edges, even if others may have given up on it. This includes seeing the potential in oneself. After learning this, Michael has scaled two houses flipping businesses and flipped over 1100 houses in the last ten years and achieved success he’d never believed was possible. He finds the most rewarding part of his career to be helping others make profound changes from the inside out and achieving financial freedom. When he’s not flipping houses or giving back, Michael can be found traveling, attempting to surf, and most recently, learning how to hike.
Jacinta “Jaye” Walker
Jaye has a degree in Marketing from Towson University and a Master’s in Business from The University of Maryland University College. Jaye has vast corporate work experience in Finance, Event Management, Marketing and Branding for industries like Bio-Technology, Radio Broadcast, Sports Marketing for Washington DC professional sports teams as well as running a family-owned Mortgage-Broker Firm. She founded Jay Marie LLC in 2011, a business consulting company and rebranded to Lyfe Wurks in 2018. She has a passion for helping others to help themselves and her prayer is to be a Transformation Agent where she operates her Lyfe Wurks in full excellence and integrity, so others can see the Spirit of God in her and in the way business, is conducted. She does this every day by serving her community, employees, contractors, partners, prospects, customers, friends, and family.
Tabitha D. Spann graduated from Georgia State University with a B.B.A in finance. While she was still in college, she was selected as an elite group of interns to participate in overseeing contract negotiations and budgeting for athletes during the 2012 NFL draft. Known for her expertise in wealth and asset management, she has worked with professional athletes and celebrities to manage their personal finances and expand their financial portfolio. Her reputation for finding solutions when it comes to profitability for people and businesses, has also allowed her to manage event production budgets where she has successfully converted previous financial loss into profitability. Sharif J. Small
Sharif J. Small, personal background starts with him and his twin brother being raised by a single Father in the Park Heights Area of Baltimore, MD. Having a loving and caring father kept us from all the drugs, violent, and gang activity within the neighborhood by playing various sports growing up played a big part in shaping us but most importantly saving us as well. Most importantly, he introduced us to our lord and
savor Jesus Christ at a very early age which I’m thankful for the most.
Sharif professional background has been in the accounting and financial service industry for over 15 years by starting his career as a Financial Advisor for MassMutual Financial Group and working for his Father’s tax practice. While at MassMutual he obtained the following licenses: Life & Health, Series 6, 63, 65 and Life/Health insurance licenses. Also, Sharif has over 12 year of bookkeeping, accounting, and payroll experience performing contracting projects for Accountemps (A Robert Half Company) and Accountants International working with small businesses, non-profits organizations and corporations.
In 2005, he started his own tax accounting and financial planning practice called S.J.S. Financial Firm to focus more providing accounting and financial planning services to small businesses and families.
In 2008, Sharif established and is Executive Director of a 501©3 non-profit organization called Financial Empowerment Movement, Inc. to improve the social economics, poverty, inequity issues by providing better financial education, access to needed financial resources and pro bono financial planning services to empower low income families, local minority communities, young people and military veteran’s to make better financial decisions to achieve financial success.
In 2011, he partnered with the Mayor’s Office and City of Baltimore to coordinate and hosts the inaugural Baltimore Financial Planning Day, an annual event that provides free financial literacy workshops and counseling sessions to low income families, young people and minorities in the Baltimore area which is now called the Youth & Family Financial Empowerment Event.
In 2013, he became a Financial Planning Counselor Contractor for, Serco, Inc as part of a mobile transition team for the Army Career and Alumni Program (ACAP) to provide financial planning workshops and individual financial counseling sessions tailored to meet the needs of transitioning Soldiers and Family Members prior to their separation from the Active Army or Reserve Components Military service at Ft.

In 2014, he created the Wealth Diversity Summit to focus on powerful panel discussion highlighting disparities and issues that have widen the wealth gap among minorities hosted at the Reginald
- Lewis Museum.
Sharif educational background includes an A.A. in Business Administration from Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC), a B.S. in Accounting with a Concentration in Personal Financial Planning from Towson University and Masters of Science in Taxation from American University. Also, Sharif has obtained the Accredited Financial Counselor Designation (AFC®) from The Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education.
